2,000 domains for 1 credit

Domain name ranker for people who build donor lists

Paste a list of candidate link sources, get a 0 to 100 Domain Rating for each one, and cut the list down before anyone writes an outreach email.

  • Score up to 2,000 domains in one call
  • Refreshed roughly once a month from our own crawler
  • No card for the $100 starting credit
GET /api.php?action=domainJSON

$ curl "https://sourceranker.com/api.php?action=overview&q=nytimes.com&key=sk_live_..."

Who it is for

A domain name ranker built around the donor list

You already have a spreadsheet of sites that might link to you. It came from a competitor export, a directory crawl, a scraped SERP or a colleague's tab. The job now is ordering it.

SourceRanker works as a domain name ranker for exactly that step. Every domain gets a Domain Rating on a 0 to 100 scale, computed from how many distinct domains link to it in our own index, so a long column of sites becomes a sorted one in a single request.

We built it for the person holding the list, not for the person reading dashboards. Plain JSON, short pipelines, and a price at which scoring 5,000 candidates costs a fraction of a cent. Try it. Our bulk scoring recipe walks through the whole thing.

What it is for

What happens between the raw list and the short list

Four jobs, each one a single call or a single column in your sheet.

  • Score

Send up to 2,000 domains to bulk_dr and receive a DR for each. One call, one credit, whatever the row count.

  • Compare

Put up to 20 finalists side by side with compare when two sites look equal on paper.

  • Overlap

Run intersect on 2 to 10 rival domains to see which sources link to several of them, which is a faster filter than any traffic guess.

  • Inspect

Pull refdomains, anchors and toppages for the few survivors before you commit time to outreach.

Where we stop

A link-data tool, not a full suite

We give you link counts and a log-scale rating. We do not track keyword rankings, estimate organic traffic from a SERP model, or crawl daily. If your filter depends on traffic estimates, pair this with Ahrefs or Semrush.

  • Data is rebuilt about once a month, so a link from last week may be missing
  • DR is our own number, similar in spirit to Ahrefs DR or Moz DA, never identical
  • A high DR says nothing about topical fit; that is still your call

Checklist

Before you trust a score column

  • Strip protocols, paths and www. so every row is a bare domain
  • De-duplicate subdomains you do not want treated as separate sources
  • Keep the DR next to the original row, never overwrite the source column
  • Score once, then re-score after the next monthly refresh
  • Open the best 20 by hand; a number cannot see a site's actual content

FAQ

Questions from people scoring link sources

What is a domain name ranker and what does it rank?

It orders domains by authority. Ours uses Domain Rating, round(100 x log(ref_domains + 1) / log(2 x 10^7)), so the number rises with the count of distinct referring domains in our index. It is a log scale: the jump from 10 to 1,000 referring domains is larger than from 1,000 to 100,000.

Can I test domain name strength without paying?

Yes. The domain, overview, stats and suggest actions need no key at all, and the checker on this page uses the free domain call. Paid actions start at 1 credit, which is $0.0001, and new accounts get $100 of credit.

How many domains can I score in one call?

Up to 2,000 domains per bulk_dr call, sent as a GET parameter or in a POST body. The call costs one credit regardless of the row count, so a 10,000-row list needs five calls and five credits.

Is the score the same as Ahrefs Domain Rating?

No. Ours is a separate metric computed from our own link graph. Expect the same general order for most sites but not the same digits, so never mix the two columns in one sort.

How fresh is the data?

The index is rebuilt roughly once a month. A site that gained links last week will probably look unchanged until the next refresh, which matters when you rate brand-new domains.

Do I need a credit card?

No. Sign in with a Google account and the $100 starting credit appears on the account page. Later top-ups are made in USDT (TRC-20) from the same page.

Which errors should my script expect?

A missing or wrong key returns HTTP 401. A balance of zero returns HTTP 402. Every response carries an ok field, and authenticated ones add _credits with the cost and what remains. See the error table for fixes.
